Nickel is obtained from two main types of deposits from the mineral garnierite (Nisilicate) in nickelrich laterite formed by weathering of ultramafic rocks in tropical climates. It also is mined from Nisulfide concentrations, mainly from pentlandite in igneous mafic rocks.
